To race or not to race

That is a question, indeed!

There's a 5K race tomorrow that's only 5 minutes away from me. I'm thinking of running it as speed work. For some reason, no matter how strong my intentions are, I can never run as fast during training as when racing. So here are my options:

  • Run the 5K race. Use it as a speed work training. Partake in the festivities. Then, run an easy 6 miles later on, either on the trail or the treadmill. It is my scheduled LSD after all. :o)

OR

  • Just head to the trails and run 10+ miles LSD. Save $20 registration fee in the process.

I do have another 5K race this coming Wednesday after all. This one is I am DEFINITELY running. It's after work and I am already registered. Plus, it's sponsored by the local Tex Mex restaurant, which means all you can eat tacos and margaritas afterwards. How can you pass that one up? :-)

Hmmmm...decisions, decisions.

On another note, I'm surrounded by junk food! Someone brought in upside-down pineapple cake and it's tempting me! Then, I just got an email for free donuts! Luckily, my office-mate is not in today. She tends to snack all day and it makes me hungry when I hear her munching on pretzels.

So far I'm holding strong.

Have a fabulous weekend everyone!

Well, what to do??? There's a 5K in my town this weekend too. It's sponsored by the local police dept., of which my husband works, and as much as I'd like to do it, I probably won't. I have been running, painfree, this week, but am only running 2.5 mi. on the treadmill. I haven't been outside at all. I think I've come to the conclusion that I just can't handle running ALL the time. The cross-training seems to be the way to go for me. I could probably do the 5k tomorrow with no problem, but I'd like to log a good time and I probably wouldn't. Ugh!

No idea about what to do with your runs this weekend. Although the main goal is training for the half-marathon right? Then maybe the LSD is the way to go.

As for the spoilers, I read one article that said some guy had found out what happened and he was announcing it to the world. But then the next article said that guy was wrong -- he didn't have any spoilers. So I'm just being careful ... I don't want to do a thing.
